You’ve decided to DIY the content for your website, how exciting! Here are some tips to help you know exactly what to put in each section so that your website visitors know what your business can do for them and how they can get started working with you. After you have chosen your template, you’ll need to fill each section with the corresponding content. Let’s get started.

Hero Section

In the Hero Section, you want to use a heading followed by a paragraph and then a call to action. Your heading will go in the red box; you want the heading to be concisely what the customer wants. For SEO purposes, you want to make sure to include the keyword that you are trying to get the page to rank for. Underneath the heading, you can include a paragraph explaining what the company does, offers, or sells. This just needs to be a short paragraph as more details can be placed in the About Section. In the blue box, you will want to include a call to action. A call to action is what you want the web visitor to do. There are many phrases you can choose from for a call to action; the phrase you choose simply needs to reflect what you want them to do. “Get Started”, “Subscribe Today”, “Save Time, Do More” are a few examples of call to actions. When they click on the call-to-action button, they will be taken wherever you want them to go. For example, you can send them to a form, a phone number, or an appointment setup.  

Services Section

In the Services Section, you want to include the main services that your business offers followed by a short paragraph for each. You want to tell the reader how you can assist them using straightforward words so that it is clear and understandable. A good service section helps the web visitor easily identify how the company can help them.

Testimonials Section

The Testimonials Section can include a heading that says “Testimonials”, “What others say”, “People just like you”, etc. You can also simply put a quotation mark like in the picture above and then put a quote underneath from someone’s review. If you are a new business and don’t have any testimonials yet, you could use this section as an “Our Promise to You” section and include what your business guarantees. About Section

The About Section needs to include a small heading followed by a short paragraph and another call to action. You can include an image or video in this section as well. The About Section should answer the following questions:

  • Who is the company/organization?
  • What do they do?
  • Why should I care?

A good About Section quickly tells the web visitor the story of the company and why they should care. Following the paragraph should be a call to action, which would be in the purple box. This call to action could link to the About Page or another internal page.  

Call to Action Section

There are other sections that already have a call to action, however, it is important to distinguish this section as a full width, big attention-grabbing section. You should include a heading followed by a short paragraph and then a call to action. The heading should be the literal thing that you want the web visitor to do. “Questions?” or “Subscribe Today” are both great options for a heading for the Call-to-Action Section. The paragraph should re-solidify why they should click this section. Lastly, you should include one final call-to-action button that takes them to where you want them to go, which would be inside the green box.
